Botanic Still Life collection - hanging fern

Giclée print on beautiful matt Hahnemuhle Fine Art Photo Rag paper depicting a fern.
A painterly photographic still life of a fern. The fern is associated with growth, renewal, and change. The plant's unique life cycle, which involves the development of fronds that unfurl slowly, has been seen as a metaphor for the process of personal growth and transformation.
In some cultures, the fern is also associated with secret knowledge and wisdom. This belief may stem from the plant's ability to grow in hidden or secluded places, such as in the shade of other plants or in damp, dark forests.
Additionally, the fern has been associated with endurance and perseverance. Some species of ferns are known for their ability to survive in challenging environments, such as in rocky or barren soil. This quality has made the fern an important symbol for resilience and strength in the face of adversity.
In my photographic process, I utilize semi-transparent layers to create a dreamlike and painterly aesthetic when capturing the beauty of the botanical specimen. The diffusion of light through the layers softens and blurs the edges of the subject, evoking the style of traditional paintings. This technique is achieved entirely in-camera, without any post-production manipulation.
